This week brought something a little different for the Waterlillie Clark team, time spent working on a pond refurbishment. It’s not a type of project we take on regularly, but it’s one that always brings a refreshing change of pace and a new set of challenges.
A different kind of landscaping
Working on ponds, especially above-ground designs built from brick or stone, requires a blend of technical precision and creative problem-solving. Every pond behaves differently, so attention to structure, water levels, and planting balance is key. It’s detailed work that rewards patience and care.
Craftsmanship and collaboration
For our small team, projects like these are a great opportunity to refine existing skills and share knowledge. Pond refurbishment draws on elements of both hard and soft landscaping, combining masonry and waterproofing with thoughtful planting design. It’s a satisfying process that showcases how varied landscape work can be.
A rewarding type of project
There’s something especially rewarding about restoring a pond feature and seeing it come back to life. Even a modest space can add a huge amount of character, movement, and tranquillity to a garden once it’s refreshed and balanced again.
We’ll be sharing more about this particular project once it’s complete, including how the refurbishment has transformed the space. For now, it’s been a valuable reminder of the creativity and craftsmanship involved in this side of our work.
Ponds and water features can transform a garden, adding movement, reflection, and a sense of calm.
